Job Description:

The Medical Assistant will provide support for any medical needs required by UC, traveling when necessary to each New York City location.


  • Regular hours entail 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • Must be flexible to meet program needs
  • Weekend and evening hours required


  • Assist with initial medical assessments
  • Communicate with FNP & RN to assist in the referrals of youth to appropriate medical specialties
  • Assist with required documentation for prescriptions
  • Assist with follow-up services for NYC programs
  • Administer whisper test, vitals, & vision test
  • Provide support with creating and electronically submitting TARs for each UC as needed and required paperwork for other NYC programs
  • Create and update information for each NYC web portal
  • Assist with foster parent, foster family, and employee physicals
  • Properly document each medical service.
  • Work collaboratively with the FNP, Case Manager, Clinician, and Skills Trainer to provide appropriate services to each youth
  • Responsible for all medical reporting requirements
  • Responsible for documentation preparation
  • Responsible for ordering medical supplies


Experience and Skills:

  • Must be certified as a Medical Assistant
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Experience working with at-risk youth - strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills - required
  • Bi-lingual English-Spanish required. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency required. Position itself requires Spanish speaking, writing, and reading proficiency
  • Ability to work effectively in a team context
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and to exercise greater judgment
  • Ability to travel to other agency locations


  • Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours
  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying and stapling
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, planes - public transportation for lengthy periods of time
  • Walk up/down stairs
  • Walk to enter/exit subway and other public transportation
  • Walk several blocks to get to required location
