Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Case Aides & Bus Drivers, the Manager of Youth Support Services Department will manage and coordinate movements of Unaccompanied Alien Children and the staff responsible for those movements, both in the immediate geographic location and across the United States Friday - Tuesday, by deploying and supervising Case Aides and Youth Transportation Specialists to support program services. This candidate will also function as weekend on-call and coordinate program intakes during weekends.

HOURS PER WEEK: Exempt

  • Must have the availability to work a flexible schedule
  • Regular hours entail 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday
  • Long days, may involve travel or overnight stays for UC reunifications
  • Must be flexible to meet program needs
  • Must be available to work afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays

FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide training, oversight, and support in YSSD field operations (may include support with unifications nationally and in rare occasions internationally)
  • Act as a liaison between department staff and management
  • Track and Monitor ticket/vehicle infractions
  • Audit, track, and monitor Vehicle Inspection Reports (VIR)
  • Manage and maintain fleet maintenance for the UC Program. This includes but not limited to:
  • COVID Cleaning of all Vehicles
  • Tracking of vehicle utilization, damage, maintenance and inspection/registration
  • Scheduling maintenance appointments at assigned repair shops
  • On-site troubleshooting of GEOTAB issues or concerns in collaboration with the Director of Safety, Risk, Health and Wellness
  • Provide communication support between the children and stakeholders such as legal services providers and external medical providers
  • Provide support to the Directors and Assistant Directors of YSSD with administrative tasks; as needed
  • Identify trends of concerns and facilitate solution based meetings with department staff and management
  • Provide training to department staff on how to identify and report Significant Incident Reports (SIR)
  • Implement procedures in accordance to new ORR Field Guidance or policies

    Experience and Skills:

    • High school diploma with 4 years YSSD experience required
    • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Ability to be a proactive communicator
    • Must possess outstanding organizational skills
    • Bi-lingual - English-Spanish required. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency is required.  Position itself requires Spanish speaking, writing, and reading proficiency
    • Ability to be flexible in the work schedule is a must
    • Ability to manage a large group of staff
    • Ability to work well with people from many cultures including recent immigrants, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children 
      Ability to meet deadlines and to work overtime, after hours and weekends when needed
    • The ability to set and maintain boundaries
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Ability to travel to other agency locations

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to perform bending, lifting, prolonged sitting/standing
    • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs
    • Word processing: including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours a day
    • Ability to handle various modes of transportation- Handle air travel- including turbulent flying
    • Completing paperwork –Such as copying and stapling
    • Sit in and/or drive a vehicle up to several hours
    • Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, planes – public transportation for lengthy periods of time
    • Walk up/down stairs
    • Walk to enter/exit subway and other public transportation
    • Walk several blocks to get to required location
