Job Description:

Works with the Lead Homefinder, Assistant Vice President, Program Directors, and Vice President of NYC Programs to anticipate foster parent recruitment needs, select methods of advertising, prepares and places recruitment advertisements in conjunction with agency communications and development department.

HOURS PER WEEK: Exempt

  • Regular hours entail 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • Must be flexible
  • Weekend and evening hours required

FUNCTIONS

  • Works with Assistant Vice President and Vice President to anticipate foster parent recruitment needs
  • Selects method of advertising, prepares and places recruitment advertisements
  • Recruits, trains, conducts home studies, and facilitates certification and ongoing compliance for foster parents. Training includes: PST, TST, MAPP, and Mini-MAPP
  • Conducts initial and follow-up training of foster parents
  • Conducts orientation and home studies for potential foster parents
  • Serves as a resource and trouble-shooter to foster parents, maintains motivation and treatment anticipation of foster parents, and ensures a good working relationship with foster parents
  • Attend weekly staff meetings

Experience and Skills:

  • Appropriate Associate’s Degree or 2 years of experience or familiarity with foster parenting, preferably in a therapeutic foster care setting
  • Background in an area relevant to the mental health field preferred
  • Experience in teaching or instructional presentations preferred
  • Bi-lingual - English-Spanish required. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency required. Position itself requires Spanish speaking, writing, and reading proficiency
  • Development of a thorough understanding of an enthusiasm toward serving UC
  • Detail oriented, clerical aptitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • NYS Driver’s License preferred
  • Ability to travel to other agency locations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours a day
  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying and stapling
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Stand for several hours to teach/train foster parents
  • Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, planes - public transportation for lengthy periods of time
  • Walk up/down stairs
  • Walk to enter/exit subway and other public transportation
  • Walk several blocks to get to required location
