Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Medical Office Manager, the Registered Nurse will provide support for any medical needs required by children in the treatment family foster care program, traveling when necessary to each New York City location.

 

HOURS PER WEEK: Exempt

  • Regular hours entail 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • Must be flexible to meet program needs
  • Evenings and weekends may be required

 

FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with initial medical assessments
  • Communicate with FNP to assist in the referrals of youth to appropriate medical specialties
  • Assist with required documentation for prescriptions
  • Assist with follow-up services for NYC programs
  • Administer vaccinations as needed for each youth
  • Administer TB tests to youth and employees
  • Provide support with creating and electronically submitting TARs for each youth with paperwork for other NYC programs
  • Create and update information for each NYC web portal
  • Assist with foster parent, foster family, and employee physicals
  • Properly document each medical service
  • Work collaboratively with the FNP, Case Manager, Clinician, and Skills Trainer to provide appropriate services to each youth

 

Experience and Skills:

  • NYS Registered Nurse license
  • Experience working with at-risk youth - strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills - required
  • Ability to work effectively in a team context
  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and to exercise greater judgment
  • Ability to travel to other agency locations as required

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours
  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying and stapling
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, planes - public transportation for lengthy periods of time
  • Walk up/down stairs
  • Walk to enter/exit subway and other public transportation
  • Walk several blocks to get to required location
