Job Description:

The Database Report Writer is responsible for the creation, revision, and maintenance of reports and dashboards agency-wide. This position includes report creation and revision, executive KPI dashboard development and maintenance, consultation and guidance on database and documentation requirements to other team members, and the analysis of additional reporting needs. This staff member will use SQL knowledge to generate reports from our EHR system to meet agency, program, and stakeholder needs.


  • Travel to other agency locations may be required


  • Build, revise, and maintain all system, custom, and ad hoc reports
  • Work with Data Analyst to build and maintain dashboards and other visualizations
  • Provide guidance to other team members as needed where SQL, Java, or relational database knowledge may be required for form building
  • Analyze and communicate reporting needs
  • Build views and joins for system-based reports and subreports
  • Present reports and findings to program and executive management

Experience and Skills:

  • Associate degree in an Information Systems or Computer Science related field
  • 1+ year(s) experience building reports
  • Knowledge of and proficient in SQL
  • Experience using Tableau a plus
  • Experience or understanding of EHR system design a plus
  • Proficiency in basic Java Script a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in writing SQL queries, building reports, and information presentation
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and systematically compile technical, statistical, and sometimes qualitative information into comprehensive reports
  • Ability to create ad hoc reports from verbal or written descriptions of needs
  • Basic understanding of relational database design
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical staff
  • Ability to complete tasks within deadlines and due dates with minimal supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to communicate with other staff as needed for information sharing, ensuring project effectiveness, and form design accuracy
  • Ability to travel to agency locations


  • Word processing: Including responding to emails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for a minimum of 5 hours and could be up to 7 hours a day depending on program needs
  • Lifting of Agency file books - weighing approximately 6-8 lbs. each - 5 inch binders
  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying, stapling
  • Answering phones, processing mail, filing, lifting packages
  • Walking up/down stairs
