Overview:

Cayuga Centers is looking to hire a driven, dedicated and supportive director for our Home Study and Post Release Services (HS/PRS) program that serves Unaccompanied Minors and their sponsors. Located in Baltimore, this person will lead a new regional team and ensure our service recipients have a successful and safe transition into their homes after their care with the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).  

What we’re looking for:

  • Master’s degree in related field and three years of relevant experience
  • Bilingual proficiency, English - Spanish 
  • Knowledge of family preservation, kinship care, child welfare and local community social services
  • Ability to work well with people from many cultures, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ+ children
  • Experience conducting home studies and working with immigrant populations 

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee the training of staff and the assignment of Unaccompanied Minors 
  • Supervise the work of caseworkers and administrative assistants 
  • Provide and perform administrative and executive support with confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Communicate effectively with ORR and contract providers 

Provide administrative and program support to the AVP of HSPRS. Oversee team in designated region to ensure that UC experience successful and safe transitions out of ORR care, and act as a liaison between the program AVP and the program staff.

HOURS PER WEEK: Exempt

  • Regular hours entail 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • Must be flexible to meet program needs
  • Travel outside of regular work hours required
  • 24/7 on call support required
  • FUNCTIONS:
  • Oversee the assignment of UC referrals
  • Oversee training program staff
  • Supervise the work of caseworkers within the region
  • Provide administrative support to the program VP
  • Perform a variety of administrative or executive support tasks that are highly confidential and sensitive
  • Supervise administrative assistant
  • Administer and coordinate program purchase contracts completion and renewals
  • Administer and maintain property leases
  • Communicate with ORR and other vendors

 

Experience and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in related field required
  • Three years of relevant, progressive experience required
  • Experience conducting home studies required
  • Experience working with immigrant populations required
  • Knowledge of local community social services required
  • Strong administrative experience
  • Knowledge of family preservation, kinship care, and/or general child welfare
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Gmail applications
  • Ability to work well with people from many cultures, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children
  • Bi-lingual - English- Spanish required. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency is required. Position itself requires Spanish speaking, writing and reading proficiency
  • Valid driver’s license in a state located within the assigned region
  • Ability to travel to locations within the designated region

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours a day
  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying and stapling
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, plains - public transportation for lengthy periods of time
  • Walk up/down stairs
  • Walk to enter/exit subway and other public transportation
  • Walk several blocks to get to required location
