Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director and in cooperation with all other agency personnel, the Agency Trainer will facilitate foster parent and staff training for the agencies’ regional offices. This staff member will ensure that required trainings are facilitated in an efficient, concise, and professional manner. The Agency Trainer will complete the coordination, tracking, and logging of completed foster parent and staff trainings as needed.


  • Non-exempt
    • Regular hours entail 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday
    • Evenings and weekends will be required


  • Deliver Virtual and Limited Stand-Up training in a professional and knowledgeable manner
  • Provide training that is current and continuously updated to meet the changing needs of the agency and its authorizing entities for new and current staff
  • Team Collaboration to create and coordinate schedules for staff and foster parent trainings
  • Distribute training schedules/calendars to all foster parents via correspondence
  • Inform staff/foster parents of upcoming trainings via correspondence and phone calls
  • Ensure that all pre-certification trainings certificates and annual re-certification trainings certificates are in place for prospective and active foster parents
  • Seek and maintain ongoing certifications as required through agency approved applications
  • Ensure new trainees files are up to date on all mandatory trainings and certifications required by agency
  • Enroll staff in mandated trainings
  • File and track all training records prior to entry into LMS
  • Investigates and resolves routine problems, and assist associates in solving problems
  • Keep supervisor informed of work in process and problems incurred
  • Flexibility for training at all agency locations
  • Attend professional development trainings and required reading 

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, 5 years’ Human Service experience required: Two years or more of presentation/training experience, particularly in the areas of working with youth in the child welfare system is a plus
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and ability to work in a flexible team environment
  • Experience with Connections system (ACS) highly preferred
  • Computer proficiency must include PowerPoint, Excel Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word,
  • Advance Proficiency working with Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides and Virtual Platforms (Google Meeting and Zoom)
  • Trainer certifications in MAPP/GPSII, PST, First Aid, CPR and AED strongly preferred
  • Ability to handle confidential material in a responsible manner
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License preferred
  • Ability to travel to all agency locations as required (Post Pandemic)
  • Clerical Skills (i.e- Answering Phone Calls, Creating Certificates, Attendance, Filing, Inputting and Uploading Data, Copying, Scanning) 


  • Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: this involves sitting at a computer for a minimum of 5 hours and could be up to 7 hours a day depending on program needs
  • Lifting of Agency file books - weighing approximately 6-8 lbs. each - 5 inch binders
  • Completing paperwork -such as copying and stapling
  • Answering phones, processing mail, filing and lifting packages
  • Walking up/down stairs
  • Ability to provide stand up training for up to 8 hours per day
