Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Director of Homefinding, the Homefinder will recruit, train and facilitate certification of foster parents; ensure a solid working relationship with parents by providing a valuable resource to families. This staff member will maintain professionalism in all areas, including confidentiality.

HOURS PER WEEK: Non-Exempt

  • Regular hours entail 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday
  • Must be able to flex schedule
  • Weekend and evening hours required

FUNCTIONS:

  • Works with branch managers and director to anticipate host parent recruitment needs
  • Selects method of advertising, prepares and places recruitment advertisements in conjunction with agency marketing specialist
  • Recruits, trains, and facilitates certification of host parents. Training includes: PST, TST, MAPP, Mini MAPP
  • Conducts initial and follow-up training of host parents
  • Serves as a resource and trouble-shooter to host families; maintains motivation and treatment participation of host parents, ensures a good working relationship with host parents
  • Attends weekly staff meetings
  • Attends assigned foster parent recruiting events, which may include nights and/or weekends
  • Monitors and submits all board rate paperwork
  • Enters all pertinent payment information in CCRS
  • Documents and tracks all certification of homes in Connections

Experience and Skills:

  • Masters’ of social work or equivalent human services degree strongly preferred, Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two years of documented relevant experience required
  • MAPP training strongly preferred
  • NYC ACS or private agency child welfare experience required
  • Familiarity with OCFS, OMRDD, OMH, and other relevant municipal and state agencies
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications
  • Flexibility to work when the families are available to meet
  • Ability to work well with people from many cultures including recent immigrants, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children
  • Willingness to travel wit
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License required
  • Bi-lingual - English-Spanish required. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency required. Position itself requires Spanish speaking, writing, and reading proficiency

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours a day
  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying and stapling
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Stand for several hours to teach/train foster parents
  • Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, plains - public transportation for lengthy periods of time
  • Walk up/down stairs
  • Walk to enter/exit subway and other public transportation
  • Walk several blocks to get to required location
