Job Description:

Recruits, trains and facilitates certification of foster parents; ensures a solid working relationship with parents by providing a valuable resource to families.

HOURS PER WEEK: Non-Exempt

  • Regular hours entail 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • Must be flexible to meet program needs
  • Weekend and evening hours required

FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with management to anticipate host parent recruitment needs
  • Select method of advertising, prepares and places recruitment advertisements in conjunction with agency marketing specialist
  • Recruit, train, and facilitate certification of host parents. Training includes: PST, TST, MAPP, Mini MAPP
  • Conduct initial and follow-up training of host parents
  • Serve as a resource and trouble-shooter to host families; maintains motivation and treatment participation of host parents, ensures a good working relationship with host parents
  • Attend assigned foster parent recruiting events, which may include nights and/or weekends
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.

Experience and Skills:

  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 2 years of experience or familiarity with foster parenting, preferably in a therapeutic foster care setting
  • MAPP training strongly preferred
  • Bi-lingual English-Spanish required. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency required. Position itself requires Spanish speaking, writing, and reading proficiency
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Gmail applications
  • Flexibility to work when the families are available to meet
  • Ability to work well with people from many cultures including recent immigrants, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children
  • Willingness to travel
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours a day
  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying and stapling
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Stand for several hours to teach/train foster parents
  • Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, plains - public transportation for lengthy periods of time
  • Walk up/down stairs
  • Walk to enter/exit subway and other public transportation
  • Walk several blocks to get to required location
