Job Description:

Under the direction of the AVP of Case Management, the Assistant Director Case Management will assist the Assistant Vice Presidents of Case Management in the supervision of case managers working within Unaccompanied Children Program. This staff will audit the quality of the case management procedures to ensure consistent and high quality services for all youth.

HOURS PER WEEK: Exempt

  • Regular hours entail 9:00am - 5:00pm
  • Monday - Friday. Must be flexible to meet program needs
  • Evenings and weekends may be required

FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate and oversee each minor’s assessment, individual service plan, family reunification, and discharge
  • Train, supervise, and lead up to 12 case managers at a given time
  • Submit daily ORR required reports
  • Carry a small caseload (as assigned)
  • Responsible for case management services for unaccompanied children
  • Ensure all services provided to each minor are properly documented in each case file and UC Portal
  • Manage daily operations of case managers
  • Coordinate training and supervision of case managers
  • Respond to client emergencies within or outside work hours
  • Coordinate initial intake requirements with clinicians, case managers, and other staff as needed
  • Provide weekly supervision to each case manager
  • Participate in weekly staffing meetings with clinicians, case managers, case coordinator, and other ORR staff

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours a day
  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying and stapling
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, plains - public transportation for lengthy periods of time
  • Walk up/down stairs
  • Walk to enter/exit subway and other public transportation
  • Walk several blocks to get to required location

Experience and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in relevant behavioral/social sciences field preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, education or other human services profession required
  • NYC ACS or private agency child welfare experience required
  • Familiarity with OCFS, OMRDD, OMH, and other relevant municipal and state agencies
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications
  • Flexibility to work when the families are available to meet
  • Ability to work well with people from many cultures including recent immigrants, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children
  • NYS Driver’s License preferred
  • Ability to travel to other agency locations
