Job Description:

Under the Supervision of the Program Manager, the Assistant Manager of YFRC will ensure the proper implementation of routines and program guidelines. This staff member will also provide direct care for youth placed in Youth and Family Resource Center as needed.

Schedule: Regular hours vary. Must be flexible to meet program needs.



* Ensure a clean and safe program that promotes a therapeutic and learning environment

* Provide direct supervision of youth, as necessary and according to agency policies and procedures

* Consult with youth, families, and caseworkers regarding needs, goals, and expected program outcomes

* Oversee youth orientation process and ensure a safe transition into the program

* Assist with the development of age and developmentally appropriate routines

* Ensure routines are followed by direct care staff

* Ensure fire drills are conducted as scheduled and as per regulation

* Properly brief staff members and communicate relevant information as per program policies and procedures

* Advise and support direct care staff during challenging situations and create necessary safety plans in conjunction with clinical staff

* Facilitate skill building groups for youth placed in the Youth and Family Resource Center

* Provide additional individual skill building sessions as assigned

* Participate in weekly reviews of all Individual Crisis Management Plans and update as necessary

* Ensure that each youth is meaningfully engaged in their education

* Develop transportation plans to and from school for all youth

* Review all logs and documentation to ensure proper completion

* Assist with ensuring staffing schedules meet all regulatory ratios

* Conduct safety and security checks of all doors, windows, vehicles, etc. while working in partnership with the Maintenance department for required physical plant needs

* Assist in tracking and counting medications, planning for refills, and scheduling medication self-administration supervision

* Attend meetings regarding school, Service Plan Reviews, etc.

* Provide supervision to the relief direct care staff

* Maintain familiarity with the Local 200-B contract and follow agency protocol implementing its provisions



Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field & two years of residential care experience.
  • Associate degree in a related field & four years of residential care experience
  • Experience in group facilitation and management
  • Experience in providing direct services to youth and families
  • Experience implementing and overseeing various behavior management interventions to assist youth with challenging behaviors in various settings (i.e. home, school, work)
  • Ability to understand child development and behavior management strategies that work best for youth who've experienced trauma and mental health problems
  • Ability to respond to youth and families in crisis, utilize de-escalation strategies, and provide short term stabilization
  • Ability to advise supervises during challenging or escalated situations, create necessary safety plans, and provide feedback following the intervention
  • Valid NYS State Driver’s License
