Job Description:

To provide oversight and support to the Teachers and Teachers Aides within the Learning Center. The Learning Center Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations and ensuring educational goals are being met within the Learning Center

FUNCTIONS:

  • Train and supervise Teachers and Teacher Aides; including individual supervision and time card management.
  • Ensure compliance with all ORR Regulations and New York State Education requirements - such as child abuse, DASA, and school violence prevention.
  • Create and revise curricula for student’s age’s infant- 17.5.
  • Conduct educational assessments for each UC along with the Director of Education.
  • Upload all documents in shared file system.
  • Model classroom management and delivery of lessons.
  • Inform Director of Education of any incidents/issues with children and/or staff.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Manager of Skills Trainers and various team leaders.
  • Create and revise lesson plans for Teachers, Teacher Aides, and Skills Trainers.
  • Administer educational assessment for appropriate grade level.
  • Ensure class and trip attendance accuracy and procedures.
  • Use common core state standards to deliver instruction.
  • Utilize technology to individualize educational needs and approaches.
  • Prepare staff to meet the needs of non-English speaking students, incorporating ESL as a main component of curricula.
  • Responsible for SIR review.
  • Monitor program requirements such as lesson plans, logs, and training manuals.
  • Provide support to the Director of Education as needed.
  • Provide individualized attention to UC in the educational setting when needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by your immediate supervisor or the Chief Executive Officer.

 HOURS PER WEEK: Exempt.

  • Regular hours entail 8:00 am-4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, Must be able to flex schedule to meet program needs.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college required.
  • Proven experience accelerating measurable student learning in urban schools (preferred).
  • Minimum of two years' successful classroom teaching experience (preferred).
  • Concentration in Special Education, ESL, and Math.
  • Bi-lingual - English-Spanish required. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency required. Position itself requires Spanish speaking, writing, and reading proficiency.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License Preferred.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours a day.
  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying, stapling as needed.
  • Stand for several hours to meet tutoring needs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, planes - public transportation for lengthy periods of time.
  • Walk up/down stairs as needed.
  • Walk to enter/exit subway and other public transportation as needed.
  • Walk several blocks to get to required location.
