Job Description:

JOB OBJECTIVE:Under the supervision of the Training Manager and in cooperation with all other agency personnel, the Agency Trainer will facilitate foster parent and staff trainings for our New York City office. This staff member will ensure that required trainings are facilitated in an efficient, concise, and professional manner. The Agency Trainer will complete the coordination, tracking, and logging of completed foster parent and staff trainings, including producing completion of certificates as needed.


  • Deliver training in a professional and knowledgeable manner
  • Provide training that is current and continuously updated to meet the changing needs of the agency and its authorizing entities for new and current staff
  • Create and coordinate schedules for staff and foster parent trainings
  • Distribute training schedules/calendars to all foster parents
  • Inform staff/foster parent trainings as needed including correspondence and phone calls
  • Ensure that all pre-certification trainings and annual re-certification trainings are in place for prospective and active foster parents
  • Seek and maintain ongoing certifications as required through agency approved applications
  • Ensure new trainees are up to date on all mandatory trainings and certifications required by agency
  • Track all training records prior to entry into LMS
  • Assist the Assistant Director in development of updated training material
  • Investigates and resolves routine problems, and assist associates in solving problems
  • Keep supervisor informed of work in process and problems incurred
  • Assist the Assistant Director in conducting team meetings, will have responsibility for ongoing leadership skills reinforcement
  • Flexibility for training at all agency locations
  • Attend required trainings

  • Responsible for complying with rules and regulations governing access to Protected Health Information under HIPAA. Access to Protected Health Information is limited to the extent required to perform responsibilities effectively and efficiently. No access will be permitted unnecessarily. These essential job functions dictate the level of access, use, and disclosure of confidential information
  • Perform other duties as requested by immediate supervisor or the Chief Executive Officer

Experience and Skills:

  • Associate’s Degree required, five years’ Human Service experience preferred
  • Two years or more of presentation/training experience, particularly in the areas of working with youth in the juvenile justice or child welfare system is a plus
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and ability to work in a flexible team environment
  • Experience with Connections system highly preferred
  • Computer proficiency must include PowerPoint, Excel Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word.
  • Trainer certifications in MAPP/GPSII, PST, First Aid, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation strongly preferred
  • Experience working with youth in juvenile system or child welfare system is a plus
  • Ability to handle confidential material in a responsible manner
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License preferred
  • Ability to travel to all agency locations as required


  • Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: this involves sitting at a computer for a minimum of 5 hours and could be up to 7 hours a day depending on program needs
  • Lifting of Agency file books - weighing approximately 6-8 lbs. each - 5 inch binders
  • Completing paperwork -such as copying, stapling as needed
  • Answering phones, processing mail, filing, lifting packages as needed
  • Walking up/down stairs
  • Ability to provide stand up training for up to 8 hours per day

HOURS PER WEEK: Non exempt

  • Regular hours entail 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • Evenings and weekends will be required as needed
