Job Description:

JOB OBJECTIVE:To anticipate foster parent recruitment needs, select methods of advertising, prepare and place recruitment advertisement in conjunction with agency communication and development department

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform bending, lifting, prolonged sitting/standing
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs
  • Word processing: including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours a day
  • Ability to handle various modes of transportation- Handle air travel- including turbulent flying
  • Completing paperwork –Such as copying, stapling as needed
  • Sit in and/or drive a vehicle up to several hours as needed for transportation
  • Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, planes – public transportation for lengthy periods of time
  • Walk up/down stairs as needed

 

 

HOURS PER WEEK:  Exempt

  • Regular hours entail 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday – Friday
  • Must be flexible to meet program needs.
  • Must be available to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as assigned

 

FUNCTIONS:

  • Works with Chief Operating Officer to anticipate foster parent recruitment needs
  • Oversee all treatment planning and delivery of the program
  • Selects method of advertising, prepares and places recruitment advertisements
  • Recruits, conducts home studies, and facilitates certification and ongoing compliance for foster parents. Training includes: PST, TST, MAPP, and Mini-MAPP  
  • Track certifications and monitor recruitment efforts
  • Supervise assistant director and home finders
  • Serves as a resource and trouble-shooter to foster parents, maintains motivation and treatment anticipation of foster parents, and ensures a good working relationship with foster parents
  • Development of systems to develop and support the program
  • Development, implementation and monitoring of operational procedures and protocols
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Attend required training
  • Read required books
  • Responsible for complying with rules and regulations governing access to Protected Health Information under HIPAA.  Access to Protected Health Information is limited to the extent required to perform responsibilities effectively and efficiently.  No access will be permitted unnecessarily.  The essential job functions as described, herein, dictate the level of access, use and disclosure of confidential information.
  • Perform other duties as requested by immediate supervisor of the Chief Executive Officer

 

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant behavioral/social sciences field required
  • 2 years of management experience and familiarity with foster parenting, preferably in a therapeutic foster care setting preferred
  • Background in an area relevant to the mental health field preferred
  • Experience in teaching or instructional presentations preferred
  • Familiarity with ACS, OCFS, OMRDD, OMH and other relevant municipal and state agencies preferred
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office  applications
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a flexible team context
  • Bi-lingual - English-Spanish required. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency required.  Position itself requires Spanish speaking, writing, and reading proficiency
  • Ability to work well with people from many cultures including recent immigrants, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children
  • Ability to handle confidential material in a responsible manner
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License preferred
  • Ability to travel to other agency locations as required
