Job Description:

JOB OBJECTIVES: This person will be responsible for the psychosocial assessment of academic, social, emotional and behavioral domains utilizing problem solving and standardized evaluations. S/he will provide consultation to foster parents and teachers regarding developmental, social-emotional, and behavioral concerns.

FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct psychological assessments and interpret results for youth and participate in IEP conferences, team meetings, and problem-solving meetings
  • Monitor completion of case study evaluations and participate in IEP conferences and meetings
  • Lead crisis intervention efforts and provide insight into the development of functional assessments and behavior intervention plans
  • Develop appropriate Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavioral Intervention Plans
  • Integrate psychological services into the classroom environment as appropriate
  • Provide assistance to Learning Center staff in the design and implementation of appropriate interventions and accommodations for students
  • Collaborate with team to contribute to program development that furthers the integration of social, coping, and problem solving in the classroom
  • Guide social- emotional development curriculum at each age level as appropriate
  • Maintain close communication and coordination with the clinician, teacher and case planner
  • Evaluate the implantation of research into practice and understand research design and statistics in sufficient depth to plan and conduct investigations and program evaluations for improvement of services
  • Respond in a positive and respectful manner to diversity, among the agency’s service population
  • Responsible for maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information of service recipients in any form (e.g., computer access, conversations, documentation) during and surviving the termination, expiration or cancellation of employment/association with Cayuga Centers
  • Responsible for complying with rules and regulations governing access to Protected Health Information under HIPPA. Access to Protected Health Information is limitied to the extent required to perform responsibilities effectively and efficiently. No access will be permitted unnecessarily. These essential job functions dictate the level of access, use, and disclosure of confidential information
  • Perform other duties as requested by program supervisors and agency leadership

Experience and Skills:

  • Master’s degree required; PhD strongly preferred
  • NYS School Psychologist Certificate required
  • CES certification
  • Ability to work effectively and patiently with others in difficult and/or stressful situations
  • Ability to adapt and individualize program support to utilize youth’s strengths and skills
  • Ability to complete all paperwork accurately and timely
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook applications
  • Bi-lingual - English-Spanish required. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency required. Position itself requires Spanish speaking, writing, and reading proficiency
  • Ability to work well with people from many cultures including recent immigrants, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs repeatedly

HOURS PER WEEK:

  • 40 hours, Exempt position
  • Regular hours entail a flexible schedule with 40 hours per week. Evenings, weekends and on-call required
