Job Description:

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:To support staff in supervising, transporting, and communicating with UC as assigned.

FUNCTIONS:

  • Transport UC as assigned (both in New York State and across the nation).
  • Respectfully communicate with children, foster parents, and colleagues.
  • Assist team during case emergencies.
  • Pick up or deliver possessions as assigned.
  • Transport UCs along with staff or Youth Transportation Specialists to appointments as needed.
  • Assist within the Cayuga Centers tutoring program as needed.
  • Transport and assist Youth Transportation Specialists with intake process as needed.
  • Assist with case documentation as needed.
  • Supervise UC as assigned.
  • Shopping as assigned.
    • Attend required training.
    • Responsible for assuring all vehicle maintenance and upkeep.
  • Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc.: This involves sitting at a computer for several hours a day.
  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying, stapling as needed.
    • Read required books.
    • Responsible for maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information of service recipients in any form (eg. computer access, conversation, document) during and surviving the termination, expiration or cancellation of employment/association with CC.
  • Responsible for complying with rules and regulations governing access to Protected Health Information under HIPAA. Access to Protected Health Information is limited to the extent required to perform responsibilities effectively and efficiently. No access will be permitted unnecessarily. These essential job functions dictate the level of access, use, and disclosure of confidential information.
  • Perform other duties as requested by your immediate supervisor, Director of Youth Support Services Department or Chief Operations Officer.

Experience and Skills:

  1. High school diploma or GED required and at least 1-year experience working with families and children required. Associates degree preferred.
  2. Experience working in a busy human services office- strongly preferred;
  3. Bilingual- English/Spanish required;
  4. Valid NYS Driver’s License.
  5. Ability to be flexible in the work schedule including after hours and late nights is a must;
  6. Ability to remain calm and composed under stress;
  7. Ability to take direction and respond appropriately in a crisis situation;
  8. Ability to handle confidential material in a responsible manner;
  9. Ability to work well with people from many cultures including recent immigrants, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children;
  10. Demonstrate the ability to work well in a team;
  11. Ability to meet deadlines and to work overtime, afterhours, and weekends when needed;
  12. Genuine love for working with children, teens, families and foster families;
  13. Ability to forge a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families; in which they are helping to gain the skills and confidence to address any issues and problems they face;
  14. A strong positive conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change;
  15. The ability to set limits and maintain the helping role of the practitioner and to intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the persons served or other family members;
  16. Possess the knowledge, attitude, and skills needed to appreciate and encourage diversity including:

  1. Ability to travel to other agency locations as required.
  2. Possess the knowledge and skills to operate the below computer platforms:
    1. Google Apps. (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar)
    2. Microsoft Word;
    3. Microsoft Excel

HOURS PER WEEK:

  • Regular hours entail 9:00am-5:00pm schedule, Monday - Friday, must be flexible to meet program needs
  • Must be available to work afternoons, evenings and weekends (when needed).
