Job Description:

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist in directing residential living units. Facilitating the approved program to assist residents in acquiring the skills and self-esteem needed to establish and achieve personal goals. The Overnight Assistant Manager will maintain professionalism in all areas including confidentiality. The Overnight Assistant Manager will supervise overnight staff to ensure that they are carrying out all of their job duties as required and will monitors systems in programs to ensure quality. Works in the units as an overnight staff person as needed.

FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direct supervision of youth according to agency policies and procedures, the cottage guidelines, and the individual treatment plan.
  • Maintain a clean, safe campus that promotes a therapeutic and learning environment.
  • Weekly review of youth ICMP’s.
  • Assist all programs with daily routines and interventional aid where needed.
  • Assist in all emergencies as needed.
  • Respond to all physical altercations.
  • Youth checks in every program at least once every two hours.
  • Assess readiness of dysregulated youth who may have been out of program, out of supervision or an AWOL return.
  • Ensure that the campus continually meets the needs of the diverse culture of the youth it serves.
  • Relieve staff when youth may be dysregulated or aggressive.
  • Role model safe and responsible decision-making and behavior.
  • Ensure that all staff utilize agency-provided opportunities for learning and growth by:
  • Ensuring that each employee has relevant performance contract(s) based upon mutually determined priorities.
  • Ensuring that each employee receives weekly documented individual supervision which directly addresses his/her performance and development.
  • Provide teaching moments to youth, teaching staff to provide these teaching moments to help the residents start the day with a healthy outlook.
  • Be proficient in TCI and TST
  • Completes all necessary communications, documentation, and logging as pre program protocol.
  • Communicates all call-in’s to appropriate personnel designated in agency policy and procedure.
  • Consult with the Overnight Manager as needed per program protocol.
  • 5. Maintenance of the Living Unit
  • As per program protocol, participates and supervises general program cleaning procedures and schedules.

Experience and Skills:

  • Associates Degree in a Human Services related field and a minimum of one year of Residential Care experience with progressive responsibilities; or High School Diploma and a minimum of three years.
  • Possess the knowledge, attitude, and skills needed to appreciate and encourage diversity including:
  • The ability to forge a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families in which they are helped to gain the skills and confidence to address any issues and problems they face;
  • A strong positive conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change;
  • The ability to work in partnership with other team members;
  • The ability to set limits and maintain the helping and to intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the persons served or other family members.
  • Experience in providing therapy/treatment services for at-risk youth and families.
  • Possess a valid NYS driver’s license.
